Alexander Svarvén

Defenceman - Hockeyettan

Alexander is a 6’1, 165 lbs left handed shot defenceman. He uses his size and strength effectively to out muscle opponents off the puck or box out in front of the net and to play a physical game. Overall, Mark tries to model his full two-way game after Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues. Being able to play 30 minutes in a game and being relied on in every situation is something he strives for.

Defence – This becomes more apparent on the penalty kill as he will block many shots, out power the opponent for the puck and get it down the ice. Despite his large size, he’s got great speed and excellent mobility to create space, stay with defenders and make plays. He’s using his awareness in all zones to keep track of opposition and teammates to make the best play possible or shut down a dangerous play.

Offence – His biggest offensive tool is his shot. He has got a hard, accurate shot that he consistently gets through to the net. Whether it is a quick wrist shot from the point, or the other teams attack. With a “Ovechkin-like” one timer on the power play, he often gets the puck to the net to create scoring chances.

Discipline – Another impact that Mark add to his game is his discipline on the ice. He plays a hard game but does not get involved with extra antics. Although he doesn’t get involved in extra antics he doesn’t get beyond sticking up for his teammates. It is very clear that he does not engage in any unnecessary penalties.

Off the ice – Mark enjoys hanging out with his teammates and to create a chemistry with his team. He also likes to work out and goes to the gym daily.
